Financial literacy centres were established in many villages to create awareness of financial issues in rural uneducated people. CSR and Sustainability Development Committee consists of 5 members and is chaired by an Independent Director. 25% of CSR budget is focused on SC/ST welfare plans for weaker sections, 60% towards development of community in and around HPCL Plant locations. The budgetary provision for CSR during the last two years was 2% but the actual amount spent was much higher. HPCL Gurukul Model for skill development focuses on training of economically backward youth. BPL unskilled school dropouts, below class X, are imparted training so that their employability becomes high. The intervention helped in salary increase of blue collar workers by 150-300%.
